Tooling Design
Tooling design is the most critical factor to succeed in making ideal molds and dies or you may experienced that once the tooling design was wrong at the beginning the molds or dies were becoming worse and worse by the coming corrective actions.So do it right at the first time is very important. At T1 Engineering, tooling design is not by one certain engineer but by the whole team.Upon Po release, Marketing,Project,Design,CNC,Assembly departments' directors will join a kick off meeting to ensure every department understand customers' requirements.After that we start to create DFM--review--approve then Tooling Design--review--modifications--review--approve--order steel.Link To Download Examples.
Steels Selection
Steels selection is the critical factor to build the molds and dies feasible and cost effective.We usually receive  
RFQs with collisions between the tooling requirements and the steels performance such as, required 1 million
cycles but the steel for RFQ is 718H,required surfaces finish is SPI A1 but the steel for RFQ is H13,one more
example is that the combination between steel and aggressive resin such as PVC,Non-Halogen-Free resin
(ABS-PA765).We must realize that stainless steels used for aggressive resins.
Compare to injection molds the steels used for die cast dies are much critical because the working conditions are much harder than injection molds inferior steels are in high risk to break after certain cycles. At T1 Engineering, we normally use ASSAB 8407 /8418 for die cast dies.

Quality Control
The only way to certify the molds and dies are the inspection data. At T1 Engineering, we are One Mold One Person managed,all the mold makers are responsible for their own molds every process is traceable,we request the instant quality feedback for every step every component needs approval from QC department after processed.See Details.

Processes Application
Appropriate processes applications are indispensable to ensure good quality and can save time as well as production cost. We evaluate every component to select the optimal processes such as EDM vs CNC EDM,Wire Cutting VS HS-Wire Cutting,3-Axis CNC vs 5-Axis CNC, base on the product and the molds' functional requirements. For example,in T1 the ejector holes are processed by WEDM or Gun Grill Machine no WEDM-HS or raditional drilling is allowed.
